Well, first of all, how did you start in the music business?

Sam: I pretty much just wrote some songs and posted them to MySpace. When everything started to take off and get bigger I had to just learn as I went. I still learn more about the music business every day. It’s very complicated haha. I started playing guitar at 13 and have been obsessed with music ever since.

Mary: Well, I guess you could say music runs in my blood. Having had a piano teacher of thirty years for a grandmother, i started I want to say, at the age of two but really what I mean is ever since I can remember music has just been a huge priority in my life. In addition, my mother plays the piano and as a child, I specifically remember listening to her play Christmas carols and knowing that ultimately that’s what I would want to do.

Which are your biggest influences?

Sam: I would def have to say a mix between Garth Brooks when I was younger and as I started playing guitar one of the first songs I learned was “All The Small Things” by Blink 182. So Garth Brooks and Blink 182 have been my biggest influences. But I literally enjoy all music from classical, electronic, acoustic, country, metal. You name it I listen to it

Mary: I could jumble off a big list to you but I would have to say up front my biggest influences include Madonna, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson and last but definitely not least, Elvis Presley… Oh wait and don’t forget the beach boys and Jimmy Buffett… They rock hard too!

Ho do you relate to the saga, what inspired you to write about it?

Sam: I really have the mindset of a hopeless romantic I guess you could say. I love writing poems and sappy love songs. So I love the story of the impossible love between a vampire and a human. It’s just AWESOME! After I read the books I wrote a song about it. Then I heard Bella Rocks! and thought “NO WAY THIS IS AWESOME! Other people are actually doing this” So I started posting them to MySpace and before you know it. The band was official =]

Mary: I hadn’t heard of the Twilight Series until Sam mentioned them to me and told me about the band he had. I figured I would enjoy them because I was literally obsessed with Harry Potter and The Lord Of The Rings books. So I immediately read the books and became instantly obsessed with Twilight as well. Sam asked me to join the band and it’s been a great ride so far with so much more to come.

And since you are singing about something that you like, do you have any other interest that you’d like to write songs about?

Sam: Ummm…inspiration can come from anywhere. I write songs about some of the most random spur of the moment things sometimes. The Twilight songs have just been the ones I have enjoyed the most and like to spend all my time making.

Mary: Also in conjunction with Twilight, any life lesson learned is a new song earned. I write mostly about life and my personal experiences. In fact, it might be safe to say if your a close friend of mine…or you break my heart… you just might end up in one of them.

Which side from the saga you try to explore more and put on your songs?

Sam: I def. write more from Edward’s point of view. A lot of songs I write are based from New Moon because I find that had the most emotional drama of all the books. I mean Edward LEAVES BELLA! It was infuriating to me when I read it so I tend to revisit that with a lot of my songs.

Mary: Well, because I am a girl, I definitely relate to Bella more so than I do Edward; However, I must say when it concerns certain aspects of suspense and masculinity I can easily pertian my writing to that of Edward’s perspective.

What did you think about the soundtrack for Twilight and about the movie as a fan?

Sam: I REALLY enjoyed Rob’s songs and Paramore as well. Some of them I didn’t totally agree with. But I have to say that soundtrack and movie made me a Muse fan. I wasn’t really that into them before and after the baseball scene in Twilight I am their newest fan lol.

Mary: Ok, Oh my gosh when the movie came out my friend and I went back to see it three times. I think it definitely has earned itself a place in the movie/book series department. Just fascinating components of creative expression from the screen writing to the special effects to the music. From head to toe a fabulous masterpiece. When it comes to the soundtrack; Very eclectic, ranging from piano to acoustic to electric. In as few words as I can, I would describe the soundtrack as deep and in a way, a symphonic collection in the sense of modern music.

What do you expect from the New Moon soundtrack? Because the story has a different vibe, more sad and depressed.

Sam: O it will def be a darker more depressed soundtrack. But I think it will be really fun during Jacob and Bella’s fun times. There is A LOT of different emotion in New Moon so its hard to say. I think they should put “Lets Never Die” by Goodnight Juliet in there. They are my newest best friends ; )

Mary: Well I expect another masterpiece that’s for sure. Also in general, I just expect more of that heavier, deeper sound. I’m actually very anxious for its release date.

Did you ever produce anything outside this world of Twilight? If not yet, do you think about it?

Sam: Mary and I both do a lot of songs outside of Twilight. Both together and as individual songwriters. We haven’t released any of it but it’s been there since I started playing guitar. Mary and I were also in a band in high school so we have been writing together for along time.

Mary: Let’s just say I write music every single day. It’s a true passion. So yes, to answer your question I’ve got an entire three notebooks filled with lyrics and chords. Now that’s not to say I’ve produced all of them; but producing music is always a selective tedious process, so its all in the making.

Do you consider working and singing about the saga a good business our you do it just for fun and for being a fan of the books?

Sam: It’s great that I can take some songs that I have SOO much fun writing and performing and share them with the Twilight community. Its even better that the response has been good enough to allow me and Mary both to bring our fans and fans of the Twilight Saga better sounding music, more merchandise, and let us make enough money to actually travel to perform. I don’t see it as a business more as just an AMAZING opportunity to share my love of music and Twilight with thousands of other people. It’s amazing.

Mary: As candid as I can be, I believe this twilight phenomenon is a great business to be in; However, because the music does really come from my heart and I can find so much relation to the series, writing Twilight Inspired music just comes that much more naturally. With that kind of conglomeration at hand, I see it as my formula for self expression. Overall, I see it more as a hobby than a business.

Besides your songs on ITunes and Amazon, do you have any other work in progress or to be release?

Sam and Mary: Well we just finished our newest album called “Love & A Broken Piano” and that is all going up for sale on iTunes and Amazon. The name came from when Edward broke the piano in the Cullen’s home.

How is the public with your work? How is the response going?

Sam: Like any band there are people who don’t like it and people who do. Luckily the people who like it have made themselves very clear and are very supportive. So I am indefinitely grateful to them.

Mary: They couldn’t be any cooler about our work. It has been so pleasing to receive mostly positive feedback from our listeners. Without the fans and their support, our work would not be the same. I personally would probably feel much less inspired without the love that we have felt from everyone.

Did you ever have a chance to perform at a convention about the saga or has plans to do it? if yes, how was it?

Sam and Mary: We were scheduled to perform at Summer School in Forks but we were unable to attend. We are currently talking to several conventions and maybe we will see.

Do you know our country or something of our music?

Sam: I don’t know anything about the music but I know my favorite skateboarder Bob Burnquist is from Brazil =]

Mary: I wish I knew more about the music and you know what? Now that I think about it I should really do some research on the subject! In the mean time, I can tell you that i absolutely love love love the doctor on the television show here in the U.S., Dr. 90210. He is just so enthusiastic and light hearted. I remember seeing a particular episode where he goes back home to Brazil to visit and thinking to myself the scenery looks just absolutely gorgeous! Haha I want to make a trip to Brazil hopefully soon just to see it for my self.

Well now talking to you as a fan, which one is your favorite book and character from the series? And do you have one that you were not able to write about but you really want to?

Sam: My absolute favorite book was (may the hate mail come) Breaking Dawn. During Bella’s change into a vampire and after was just SOOOO cool. I really want to write a song about Alice, but that opportunity hasn’t come up yet.

Mary: My favorite character has to be hands down Bella because I relate so well to her endeavors in life/the series; However I must say I like Emmett because well.. What girl doesn’t have a thing for muscle

Could you send Foforks and the Brazilian fans of the saga a little message, so they can have a chance to know you guys and your work a little more?

Sam: To everyone on the Foforks website. You guys RULE and if I hope someday we get a chance to come to Brazil and share our music with you guys live. =]

Mary: Well… first, ditto to Sam. Second, I wish I could write an entire letter because there is just so much to say; But to be short and to the point: I love you guys ! Y’all are truely making our dreams come true at your very fingertips. I know this is just the start of more to come so keep in touch with us and hopefully our music will serve as inspiration to those who listen.

Bem, primeiramente, como vocês começaram no ramo da música?

Sam: Eu apenas escrevi algumas músicas e postei no myspace. Quando tudo começou a decolar e ficar maior, eu tive que aprender conforme caminhava. Ainda aprendo mais sobre esse ramo todos os dias. É muito complicado, hahaha. Comecei a tocar guitarra aos 13 anos e tem sido minha obsessão desde então.

Mary: Bom, acho que posso dizer que a música está no meu sangue. Tendo como avó alguém que é professora de piano há 30 anos, desde que me lembro tenho a música como maior prioridade na minha vida. E mais, minha mãe toca piano e quando criança, eu lembro especificamente de ouví-la tocar hinos natalinos e saber finalmente que era o que eu queria fazer.

Quais suas maiores influências?

Sam: Eu diria que um mix entre Garth Brooks, quando era mais novo e comecei a tocar guitarra, uma das primeiras músicas que aprendi foi “All the small things” do Blink 182. Mary: Eu poderia soltar uma lista gigante, mas eu diria que as maiores incluem Madonna, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson e por último, mas não menos, Elvis Presley… Ah, não posso esquecer os Beach Boys e Jimmy Biffet… Eles são demais também!

Como se relacionam com a saga, o que os inspirou a escrever sobre ela?

Sam: Eu tenho a mente de um romântico sem solução, posso dizer. Adoro escrever poemas e canções bobas e felizes. Então amo a história do amor impossível entre um vampiro e uma humana. É simplesmente DEMAIS! Depois que li os livros, escrevi uma música sobre isso. Então ouvi ‘Bella Rocks!’ e pensei ‘sem essa, isso é demais! Outras pessoas estão realmente fazendo isso’. Então comecei a postá-las no myspace e de repente, a banda era oficial! =]

Mary: Eu não tinha ouvido falar da saga até Sam mencionar e falar da banda que tinha. Eu ache que seria legal me juntar porque eu estava obcecada com Harry Potter e o Senhor dos Anéis. Então, li imediatamente e fiquei obcecada instantaneamente por Twilight também. Sam me pediu pra entrar na banda e tem sido uma ótima jornada até agora, com muito mais por vir.

E já que vocês cantam sobre algo que gostam, quais outras coisas gostariam de escrever sobre?

Sam: Ummm… Inspiração pode vir de qualquer lugar. Eu escrevo músicas sobre coisas bem diversas, depende do momento. As sobre Twilight são as que mais gostei de gastar tempo fazendo.

Mary: Também em conjunção com Twilight, qualquer lição de vida aprendida é uma nova canção ganha. Eu escrevo sobre a vida e experiências pessoais basicamente. Na verdade, se você for um amigo próximo… Ou partir meu coração… Você pode acabar em uma delas.

Que lado da saga vocês tentam explorar mais e colocar em suas canções?

Sam: Escrevo mais do ponto de vista de Edward. Muitas das músicas são sobre Lua Nova porque tem mais drama emocional que os outros livros. Digo, Edward DEIXA A BELLA! Eu estava furioso quando li isso e então revisito aquilo bastante para as músicas.

Mary: Bom, por ser garota, me relaciono mais com Bella que com Edward; Entretanto, devo dizer que quando diz respeito a alguns aspectos do suspense masculino eu posso facilmente mudar minha escrita para a perspectiva de Edward.

O que acharam da trilha sonora de Twilight e sobre o filme como fãs?

Sam: Eu gostei MUITO da música do Rob e do Paramore. Algumas delas eu não concordo totalmente, mas, me tornou um fã de Muse. Eu curtia muito antes e depois da cena do beisebol, sou o mais novo fã, hahaha.

Mary: Ok, ai minha nossa, quando o filme saiu, fui assistir e voltei pra ver mais três vezes. Definitivamente ganhou um lugar no meu departamento de filmes/livros. Fascinante, os componentes criativos no roteiro e nos efeitos especiais, bem como na música. Da cabeça aos pés, uma obra de arte fabulosa. Quando falamos da trilha sonora: Bem elétrica, arranjos de piano, acústico, elétrico. Em poucas palavras, descreveria a trilha sonora como profunda de algum modo, uma coleção sinfônica na cena m música moderna.

O que esperam da trilha sonora de New Moon? Porque a história tem uma nuance diferente, mais triste e depressiva.

Sam: Com certeza será algo mais obscuro. Mas acho que será divertido durante as partes de diversão de Jacob e Bella. Tem muita diferença emocional em New Moon então, é difícil dizer. Eu acho que eles deveriam colocar “Let’s Never Die” do Goodnight Juliet lá. É minha mais nova amizade musical.

Mary: Bom, espero outra obra prima, com certeza. Também no geral, espero mais peso, profundidade no som. Estou muito ansiosa pelo lançamento.

Vocês produziram algo fora do universo de Twilight alguma vez? Se não, o que acham disso?

Sam: Mary e eu fazemos muitas músicas à parte. Juntos e individualmente. Não lançamos nada, mas estão lá desde que comecei a tocar guitarra. Nós tínhamos uma banda na escola, então compomos juntos há algum tempo.

Mary: Escrevo todos os dias. É uma verdadeira paixão. Então sim, tenho cadernos inteiros cheios de letras e acordes. Agora isso não quer dizer que as tenha produzido; Mas, produzir música é um processo seletivo tedioso, então está tudo a caminho.

Vocês acham que trabalhar e cantar sobre a saga um bom negócio ou fazem só por diversão e por serem fãs?

Sam: É bom poder pegar minhas composições que me diverti fazendo e tocá-las e dividi-las com a comunidade Twilight. É ainda melhor quando a resposta tem sido boa o suficiente para nos permitir trazer música de melhor qualidade para os fãs e para a saga, mais divulgação, e nos dá dinheiro para viajar e tocar. Eu não vejo como um negócio e sim como uma GRANDE oportunidade de dividir minha paixão pela música e por Twilight com milhares de outras pessoas. É maravilhoso.

Mary: Por mais sincero que possa ser eu acredito que esse fenômeno é um grande negócio pra se estar; Entretanto, pela música vir do meu coração e eu me relacionar muito com a série, escrever canções relacionadas à Twilight vem mais naturalmente. Sobretudo, eu vejo mais como um hobby que como um negócio.

Além das músicas no ITunes e Amazon, vocês tem outro trabalho em andamento ou para ser lançado?

Sam e Mary: Terminamos nosso novo álbum chamado “Amor & um Piano Quebrado” e isso vai para esses dois sites para venda. O nome veio de quando o Edward quebrou o piano na casa dos Cullen.

Como é o público com relação ao seu trabalho? Tem resposta?

Sam: Como sempre, tem gente que não gosta e quem gosta. Felizmente, as pessoas que gostam deixaram isso muito claro e apóiam muito. Então sou muito grato a elas.

Mary: Eles não poderiam ser mais legais sobre nosso trabalho. Tem sido muito gratificante, positivo. Sem os faz, nosso trabalho não seria o mesmo. Eu pessoalmente me sentiria menos inspirada sem o amor de todos.

Já tiveram a chance de se apresentar em uma convenção sobre a saga ou têm planos para isso? Se sim, como foi?

Sam e Mary: Fomos escalados para nos apresentar no Verão Escolar em Forks, mas não pudemos ir. Estamos no momento falando com diversas convenções e vamos ver no que dá.

Conhecem nosso país ou algo da nossa música?

Sam: Não conheço nada sobre a música, mas meu skatista preferido, Bob Burnquist é brasileiro. =]

Mary: Queria conhecer mais, quer saber? Agora que pensei sobre isso, eu deveria fazer uma pesquisa sobre o assunto! Enquanto isso, eu adoro, adoro, adoro o médico do programa americano, Dr. 91210. Ele é tão entusiasmado e de bom coração. Lembro de um episódio que ele vai visitar o Brasil de novo e fiquei pensando em como a paisagem é linda! Haha queria fazer uma viagem para o Brasil! Quem sabe em breve vejo isso.

Bem, agora falando como fãs, qual o livro e personagem favoritos de cada um? E vocês têm um que não conseguiram escrever sobre, mas gostariam?

Sam: Meu favorito com certeza (que me odeiem) foi Breaking Dawn. Durante a mudança de Bella  para vampira e depois foi TÃAAO legal. Eu realmente quero escrever sobre Alice, mas ainda não deu.

Mary: Minha personagem tem que ser, sem dúvidas, Bella. Porque eu me relaciono tão bem com sua dedicação na vida/série; Entretanto, devo dizer que gosto de Emmet porque, bem… Que garota não tem uma coisa por músculos?

Podem mandar para o Foforks e para os fãs brasileiros da saga uma pequena mensagem, para que eles possam conhecê-los e seu trabalho um pouco mais?
